Abstract:

Student to IT Professional is a free seminar for students and will be co-located with the annual SQLSaturday Orlando event. Students will learn about building a professional network and working with IT staffing firms to get their first job. Students will be introduced to different areas of IT such as: Network administration, System Administration, Software Development, Cyber Security and Database Administration. Students will also have the chance to network with many local IT professionals and can attend the afternoon portion of SQLSaturday Orlando. Lunch is provided at no cost and students who attend the entire seminar will receive a certificate of completion.

SQL Speaker: Marvin Corea
Speaker Bio:

Marvin is an Independent Technology Strategist & People Developer with extensive software development experience. From making funnel cakes as a teenager to joining the Army soon after to becoming a software developer from the year 2000 to present, there has been a consistent theme in his work: try to make things better. Marvin has a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Science from the University of Maryland University College and enjoys challenges, likes to solve problems, and loves to help and mentor others.

Speaker Bio:

Gilda brings over 10 years of experience in Enterprise IT for several Fortune 500 companies. In depth and applied knowledge of database administration with emphasis on high availability and disaster recovery solutions, security audits, database health checks, capacity planning, resource utilization analysis and enterprise data migrations.

SQL Speaker: Levi Bennet
Speaker Bio:

Levi is a Senior Solution Engineer in Deloitte’s Cyber Risk practice and a member of the Managed Delivery Center. . He has over 6 years of experience managing IT projects and conducting risk assessments for third parties, military IT systems, industrial control systems, and has also managed corporate ISO 27001 compliance. Levi has built IT risk management and security control frameworks around DIACAP, NIST, ISO, and SOX 404 requirements for clients in public and private sectors.

SQL Speaker: Melissa Martinez
Speaker Bio:

Melissa has 5 years of experience as Software Engineer with a focus on C# .NET and SQL. She has been involved on all aspects of the application development life cycle including: client requirement gathering, architecture designing and implementation, product deployment and client support. She recently obtained an MBA on Information Systems Management.

Speaker Bio:

15+ years of federal and commercial experience (mostly w/ DoD) as desktop support, system administrator or system integrator. I'm familiar the industry best practices such as CMMI and SDLC methodologies such as Waterfall, Incremental and Agile. He is a 7 years Army veteran and has a degree in Information Systems w/ an emphasize in Networking Engineering. 15+ years of federal and commercial experience (mostly w/ DoD) as desktop support, system administrator or system integrator.
